A picture paints a thousand words, but ...

while i appreciate people like to post funny pictures from time to time i think it's sometimes gotten a little out of hand and has had a detrimental effect on some of the topics.

while many of the pictures are humerous this isn't intended to be a meme site and there's a tendency for pictures to keep pushing the line and becoming more crude, gross or shocking.. i'd like to request people think twice before posting things like this.

i'm not saying they are outright banned but please think twice before posting them - do they really futher the discussion any or do they detract from the conversation?.

That's it then, I'm done on this poorly organised, petty forum.

My picture of 'fat bastard' from Austin Powers was humourously making a relevant point that the Arab woman who didn't want to have sex with her husband and so was divorced by him may have been physically repulsived by him.

It's bad enough tolerating all the tripe and superficial nonsense on this forum that constantly snows over all the really interesting, important stuff without being patronised like some child.

So you removed my image and post of 'fat bastard' from a well known Austin Powers movie, which could have been emphasising a rather important point about the topic at hand (woman divorced for not having sex) but Outlaw posts silly, mocking images and memes every post he makes?

Or have websites like JWfacts helped more to escape? My point is this forum could be doing a lot better to help persons access information to help them answer their queries and escape the organisation.

As you note, the volume of trivial tripe that gets aired and gets equal air-time under 'Active threads' here swamps out the really important, interesting topics and thinkers on this forum who soon get snowed under the constant avalance of mostly crap on this forum.

There is a goldmine of incredible information and research going back years that is buried, forgotten on this forum because of the failure to categorise the subjects properly and to have a system where people can access this properly. How many even bother to use the 'Search' function, and when they do, it's not very helpful as you can hardly tell the merit of one search item from another or how old it is. Yet we see new members coming on here all the time asking the same old questions ad nauseum but the quality of posters and ex-JW's is diminishing who can really answer their questions thoroughly and intellectually impressively. Persons like Leolaia or Narkisoss, for example, genuine scholars who have come and gone probably realising their incredible efforts are largely wasted on here.

hello friends.. i notice alot of talk about the future and what it would take to bring the whole thing down and no one seems to think it can or will happen any time soon.

just seeing people here talk about what will happen once 2034 comes and goes is very discouraging.. i'm amazed this religion continues to move along as it does.

I share your frustration and amazement at the sheer stupidity and obtuseness of JW's even in this modern information digital highway age, and the desire to punch GB members in the face LOL HAHA, but basically the reasons JW's are so loyal is no different than the reasons hundreds of millions of Muslims kneel down and stick their bums up in the air 5 times a day......they are psychologically trapped in a family and community tradition of immense peer-pressure where the price of non-conformity is very high. They are all victims, basically. The severe shunning and ostracism policies of such religions and cultures is the KEY factor that keeps them going along with it year after year after year...

The problem with this forum is that the intellectual brilliance of someone like Terry is utterly wasted. How much time did Terry put into that amazing opening post but how many views will this get from JW's?

This forum is largely a huge waste of time and effort by the many brilliant ex-apostates trying to expose the WTS and help lurkers escape, through it's absolutely hopeless categorisation of the truly important subjects on here and inability to rank threads of their importance.

A brilliant thread like this will quickly disappear under the myriad snowflakes of new threads constantly being created as 'Active theads' of mostly superficial and trivial subjects. Quickly buried, forgotten and seen by hardly anyone and never seen again.

This forum needs a total overhaul and is wasting many brilliant apostates efforts but Simon seems to have little to no sincere desire to remedy it in any great hurry. I am rapidly reaching the point of not wasting my precious time on here anymore.

The Watchtower has always mocked Catholics for their beliefs but now Catholics are rightly MOCKING the ridiculous 1914 creed of the JW's for the lunacy it is.

How are JW's going door to door honestly expected to 'make a defence' of their faith with respect to this lunatic creed still being perpetuated by the cynical and deluded Watchtower leadership.

The 1914 creed has clearly done it's dash 100 years after the date, yet the Watchtower Society is still shoving this absurd nonsense down their otherwise sincere congregation members long-suffering throats, and is even now arranging congregation video presentations and demonstrations to help JW's understand and explain the doctrine to householders.

I was stunned when I read this, because verse 2 speaks of a time when the Gentile nations "will trample the holy city," a clear reference to the trampling of Jerusalem Jesus spoke of. Further, the Greek word for "trample" is only used 5 times in the New Testament, and the only time trampling of a city is used is here and (you guessed it) Luke 21:24!! But why are the JWs going to Daniel 4, which doesn't speak of trampling, yet avoid Revelation 11:2 , which clearly speaks of trampling Jerusalem by Gentile Nations? The answer is clear: the time frame Scripture gives for this trampling is 42 months (1,260 days), exactly half of what the JWs claim it needed to be! And after doing some further investigation into this verse, it turns out the JWs ignore any connection with Luke 21:24 (for obvious reasons) and instead claim it is actually a literal 42 months, and this trampling took place between 1914AD and 1918AD when their GB leadership was being jailed for alleged legal offenses. This all too convenient JW response and interpretation is simply ridiculous and clearly done out of desperation."
